Mounting instructions PDF Print E-mail

Before starting installation works:

  • check whether the delivered goods are complete and intact
  • check screw joints – if necessary retighten them
  • remove all shipping locks
To set up the Safety Pole, please only use the components and mounting tools included in delivery.

01

Mounting of the pole

  1. Remove the side walls of the transport box. Use the remaining construction to complete the pole.
  2. Screw together lifting points and ring bolts.
  3. Use the screws included to connect the fixing rings and the pole as well as fixing rings and ventilation cap.
  4. Connect the Plexiglas casing within the fixing ring to the ventilation cap – use the screws included to do so.
  5. Screw together the whole pole cap

02

Before setting up the pole:

  1. Use the keys included to open the mounting doors.
  2. Prepare power cables and digital power lines sticking out of the foundation to feed to the hanging pole (lay them straight and parallel)

Attention! Before starting work make sure that all cables (all-poles) are disconnected from the power supply system!

  3. Open the mounting door for electrical components and take out the control boxes. Before doing so, unscrew and remove the supply lines of the casing.
  4. Slide the cables bottom-up into the pole and pull them out at the lower maintenance door.
  5. Take the two eye screws and screw them into the corresponding holes of the lifting points endings.
  6. Insert the lifting points into mounting links. Make sure that the lifting points fit tightly.
  7. Use a rope and the appropriate lifting devices to lift the pole and to position it onto the foundation.

Make sure that the lifting points really fit tightly because they only fulfill their purpose when they are tight-drawn. If the tension subsides, they automatically notch.

  8. Insert the pole into the ground sleeve, level it upright und use timber wedges to lock in position.
  9. Having completed all mounting works, use e.g. flow cement, flow mortar etc. to permanently fix the pole into the ground sleeve.

Electrical startup and installation of surveillance technology

Depending on the model ordered, the Safety Pole is ex works fitted for the installation of the camera. Specialist contractors have done all work concerning electricity.

The customer has to do the following preparatory works: a.) to provide separate electrical power supply (230V) for operating the pole and b.) to provide a data line for signal transmission:

  • Cat-5 cable for digital signals
  • BNC cables for analog signals
  1. Open the lower junction box and connect the power supply provided by the customer at the terminal strip provided. All other components like for heating, ventilation, humidity and temperature sensors have already been connected at the Safety Pole factory.
  2. Use the screws provided to fix the camera to the girder platform.
  3. The inner wiring has to be done according to the existing connectors.
  4. Please check the user manual to adjust the humidity and temperature sensors
  5. IMPORTANT! For any kind of electrical installations to work, you have to make sure, that the pole is earthed as depicted in the foundation plan. It is a clear violation of our provision if no earthing is done and the warranty expires immediately. The customer, or the contractor commissioned by the customer, is responsible for the correct installation and operation.

  6. Having connected the external power supply, lock the lid of the terminal box. Afterwards the junction boxes can be reinstalled in the pole.

Attention! The neutral conductor has to be installed by a specialist.

  7. After you have installed the junction boxes, connect the supply lines according to the wiring diagram.
  8. a) After the electro-technical installations have been completed, the equipment has to be checked according to regulation.
    b) Make sure to document everything and save the proofs of work.
    c) In addition, regular checks have to be carried out within two to three years.
Any work related to the electro-technical installation of the pole has to follow regulations laid down by DIN and VDE valid at the time of installation. Work has to follow engineering rules and be carried out with due diligence. Regulations issued by federal states (or different countries) also have to be observed. We refer to the relevant accident prevention regulations.
We particularly refer to the following established standards:
  • Federal accident prevention regulations for electricians (UVV 98.0 VBG 109)
  • Medical first aid guide for accidents caused by electricity
  • VDE 0100, part 100-750 on high voltage current installations up to 1,000 V, in particular:
    - VDE 0100 Part 540 Earthing of foundations
    - VDE 0105 Part 1/7.83 Regulation on high voltage current installations and their operation
    - VDE 0100 Part 410 Protective measures for human beings who come in contact with dangerous electricity
    - VDE 0100 Part 600 UVV VBG4 Check of electro-technical installations and tools

Installation of flags

Depending on the model ordered, we deliver either 2 screw-in loops or 1 extension arm and 1 screw-in loop.
Both rotation bearings have already been installed and connected to the lifting device. Depending on the size of the flag, the rope between the two rotation bearings can be adjusted.

  1. The screw-in loops and the extension arm respectively have to be screwed to the corresponding tapped holes of the rotation bearings.
  2. To ensure that the flag can be properly mounted, it should be manufactured according to the drawing included.
  3. Use the rope to adjust the height of the lower rotation bearing. Make sure that the ropes between are also properly installed.
  4. Afterwards the flag can be mounted to the corresponding fixtures, using clamps, loops or snap-hooks.

Attention! Always make sure that the flag is properly installed. This is clearly the responsibility of the user.
